Dear KJS families,

Also, all the extracurricular activities have already concluded except for ESF Explore Basketball.

Dear Year 3 parents and guardians,
Your child(ren) recently undertook the Interactive Computerised Assessment (InCAS). The results of those assessments (Reading, Spelling, Mathematics, Mental Arithmetic & Developed Ability [picture vocabulary and non-verbal ability]) will be available to you via Gateway, on March 21st at 8:30am. For further insight into what was assessed (modules), please see the attachment.
If you have any issues with accessing the results, please email our technical support ictsupport@kjs.edu.hk
Below is an anonymised screenshot of the results that you will find on Gateway.
The assessment shows the age of your child at the time of the test in years and months (chronological age). For each assessment area, the results show the 'Age Difference' when compared with the child’s chronological age. This is also recorded in years and months.
In this example, the child who took this test was 7 yrs and 3 months (7:3) at the time of the test. Therefore, the results indicate the following;
General maths: An age equivalent score of between 7:3 and 7:9
Mental Arithmetic: An age equivalent score of between 6:9 and 7:2
Spelling: An age equivalent score of between 7:3 and 7:9
At KJS, we understand that children cannot be reduced to a number. As with any standardized assessment, results are analyzed by teachers to inform potential next steps for individual children; they are also used on a school level to support curriculum development. However, as we understand that these are merely a 'snapshot' of a child's ability at the time in which the assessment was taken, they are considered and contextualized in the broader range of ongoing, in-school assessments undertaken by teachers. Please note that if there were any particular concerns raised by the assessment, your child’s class teacher would have contacted you before the results were shared to discuss them with you.
If you have any questions about the results once they have been released, please contact your child's class teacher and/or myself at ciarian.fay@kjs.edu.hk
Kind regards,
Ciarian Fay

Dear Parents of Year 2 Students,
RE: Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease
We have been notified by a parent that their child has “Hand, Foot and Mouth disease” on 18th March 2024. As this is a notifiable communicable disease we are informing all parents in this year level. We would like to remind all parents that Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is prevalent at this time of year and request that you read the following information provided by the Department of Health, in order to prevent your child from becoming infected.
What is Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease?
Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is a viral infection. The incubation period is usually around 3 to 7 days.
Mode of Transmission
The disease mainly spreads by contact with an infected person’s nose or throat discharges, saliva, fluid from vesicles or stool, or after touching contaminated objects. The disease is most contagious during the first week of the illness and the viruses can be found in stool for weeks.
Symptoms
The disease is mostly self-limiting and resolves in 7 - 10 days. It usually begins with fever, poor appetite, tiredness and sore throat. One to two days after fever onset, painful sores may develop in the mouth. They begin as small red spots with blisters and then often become ulcers. They usually appear on the tongue, gum and inside of the cheeks. There may also be a skin rash that is non-itchy and sometimes accompanied by blisters. The rash usually appears on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet and may also appear on the buttocks and/or genitalia. A person with HFMD may not have symptoms, or may only have rash or mouth ulcers.
Management
There is no specific drug treatment for HFMD. Stay hydrated and take adequate rest, and patients may receive symptomatic treatment to reduce fever and pain from oral ulcers. Sick children should stay away from school or gatherings till all vesicles have dried up and are cleared by a doctor before returning to school to avoid spreading the disease. The patient is advised to stay at home until fully recovered, i.e. fever and rash have subsided, and vesicles have dried and crusted.Parents should monitor the child’s condition closely and seek medical advice immediately if there is persistent high fever, decrease in alertness or deterioration in general condition.
Preventive Measures:-
1. Maintain good air circulation.
2. Good hands wash with soap before meals and after going to the toilet, or other stool soiled material.
3. Avoid close contact (such as kissing, hugging) with infected persons.
4. Cover the nose and mouth with tissue paper when sneezing or coughing. Dispose of soiled tissue paper into a lidded rubbish bin, then wash hands thoroughly.
5. Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as furniture, toys and commonly shared items with 1:99 diluted household bleach and disposable towel, leave for 15 - 30 minutes, and then rinse with water and keep dry. For metallic surface, disinfect with 70% alcohol.
6. Inform our School Office with the diagnosis and refrain from attending class at school until their fever and rash have subsided and all the vesicles have dried and crusted.
7. Avoid going to overcrowded places or gathering when sick.
8. Use serving chopsticks and spoons at meal time. Do not share food and drinks with others.
Strict personal hygiene is of utmost importance in preventing Hand, Foot and Mouth disease.
The concerned area in our school will be disinfected and the related bus company is informed.

Dear KJS families,
Please kindly be reminded that we have students who have a severe nut allergy. Exposure to nut products, including peanut butter and Nutella, for these children can trigger an anaphylactic reaction - a severe, potentially fatal allergic reaction that requires immediate medical attention.
In order to keep the children safe, parents are asked to be mindful of this and not to send in any sort of food for sharing with others. Nuts and nut products should not be brought to school or included in lunches or snacks for all students. As students sit in the same room to eat their lunch this is particularly important. Your support in this area is very much appreciated.
The safety and wellbeing of all children in our care is our priority.
Thank you so much for your ongoing cooperation and vigilance in ensuring a safe environment for all our students.

Dear Parents,
The HPV (Girls only), MMRV/ MMR and HBV immunisations for Year 6 students have been completed today.
After checking all the immunisation records, the CHP team has found that most students' MMRV/MMR and HBV immunisations are up-to-date. As a result, most students would not need to have the immunisation today.
As we need extra time to check the immunisation record, it will be returned to you tomorrow.
Feel free to contact us for any questions.

Dear year 1 and 2 families,
As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the play experiences for our youngest students we have recently purchased additional playground equipment.
We are seeking donations of used kitchen equipment and tools that can be repurposed and incorporated into our new playhouse and kitchen. Our aim is to transform these items into imaginative play opportunities where children can engage in role play, develop social skills, and explore their creativity.
Not only will this help in giving these items a second life, but it will also teach our students the importance of recycling and reusing materials.
If you have any used kitchen items that are no longer needed, we would greatly appreciate your donation. Please ensure that all items are cleaned and safe for children’s use, with no sharp edges or broken parts. For now, we don’t want anything that is made of glass.
We are specifically looking for the following items:
If you have any of these items please send them to school with your child. The classroom teacher will collect them.
Many thanks for your support with this!

Dear parents,
Firstly, thank you to all of you that have completed the stakeholder survey so far. However, as it stands, only 15% of families have completed it. The email with the link was sent on Monday, 26th February by ESF Surveys to the parent who is priority contact. Please search your inbox to complete it before the March 15th deadline. It should take less than 5 minutes to complete. As always thank you for your ongoing support.

Dear Year 6 Parents and Guardians
Student-led Conferences, April 2024 - special arrangements for Year 6
I am writing to let you know about a slightly different approach that we will be taking in respect of the Student-led Conferences for Year 6 next term. This also includes letting you know that the Year 6 Student-led Conferences will take place on a different date to the rest of the school.
You will be aware that the Year 6 students are just beginning their PYP Exhibition inquiry - a very special experience for all PYP students and an opportunity to celebrate who they have become as learners and inquirers as they near the end of their time in Primary school.
This year, we intend to incorporate the Term 3 Student-led conference into the Exhibition process for Year 6, as an opportunity for students to lead their parents through a ‘work-in-progress’ conference. Students will share their chosen area of inquiry for the Exhibition, their prior knowledge, their questions plans for further research and inquiry, and any initial ideas for taking action that they might be considering. This is also an opportunity for students to reflect on their strengths as an independent learner and areas that they might wish to develop further across all areas of the curriculum.
The event will also be an opportunity for parents to hear more about the Exhibition from the Year 6 teachers.
The conferences will take place on Thursday 11th April from 1:15 to 2:30pm for all parents.
We hope that all students have the opportunity to share this occasion with a parent and strongly encourage you to support this event if possible.
Please complete the sign-up form here to confirm your attendance at the Year 6 student-led conference.
Please note: for students in Year 1-5, the Term 3 student-led conferences will take place after school on Thursday 2nd May, and all day on Friday 3rd of May. On 3rd May, there will be no regular school for any KJS students, including Year 6 students. However, as Year 6 students will not be involved in the conferences on that day, asynchronous learning activities related to the Exhibition will be allocated to Year 6 students to complete at home on Friday 3rd May. This day also presents an opportunity for Year 6 students to undertake Exhibition-related field trips, individually or in small groups, accompanied by parents or by Year 6 teachers.
Save the Date! In addition to the Student-led Conferences, the final Exhibition Showcase will take place on Friday 24th May during the afternoon. Exact details will be communicated shortly, but please mark this very special and important event on your calendars.
Warm regards
Andy Eastwood, Vice Principal

Dear Parents,
Measles, Mumps, Rubella & Varicella (MMRV) Vaccine / Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR) for Year 1 students.
Information concerning the MMRV/MMR immunisation issued by the Director of Health will be sent home with your child today. Please read it carefully. The MMRV/MMR immunisation will be offered to eligible students born on or after 1 Jan 2013, while those born before 1 Jan 2013 would receive Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine.
* If you are unsure if this immunsation is required but you are happy for it to go ahead if it is, my advice is to consent and send your immunisation book in. The CHP team will check all records before administering and would only give if needed. *
A vaccination team from the Department of Health will visit KJS to administer the vaccination to eligible Year 1 students on Tuesday 16th April 2024.
Please read the consent form very carefully and complete all the sections by ticking (✓) and signing as appropriate. If you do not consent, you will need to complete the Refusal Form and return the form to us.
The vaccination team will also require your child’s ORIGINAL immunisation records. If your child’s records are in a language other than Cantonese or English, please translate the vaccines already taken.
Forms and original immunisation records should be returned to the school together by Thursday 14th March 2024.

Dear parents,
I hope this message finds you well.
Our annual 'Stakeholder Survey' was launched earlier this week. As a parent community, you are key to our success here at KJS, and I would urge all of you to take the time to participate.
The information and associated link were sent directly from ESF to your email address. I'm led to believe that the survey has been sent to the priority contact email address, but please do check both parents' email addresses (including spam/junk folders) just in case. If you are unable to locate the survey, please let the school office know via email.
Kind Regards,

Dear KJS Families
Many of you will be familiar with the Seesaw App used in Years 1-3 to share students’ learning journals with families.
Recently, we have begun to use Seesaw in our Expressive Arts subjects of Music and Drama for students in all year levels to share their learning.
In order to ensure that families are connected to the Seesaw app to view posts from our Expressive Arts, we will shortly be sending out an email invite for any families not already connected to the KJS Seesaw App to sign up.
If you are not already connected to KJS Seesaw, we would encourage you to sign up via the invite as it is a valuable way to keep in touch with the rich learning experiences in a very important area of the KJS curriculum.
Unfortunately there is no way to target this invite, which means that all families will receive it. If you are already connected to Seesaw, please ignore this invite - you will already be able to view and interact with posts in relation to your child’s Music and Drama learning. We apologise for the inconvenience if you are already connected.
Kind regards
KJS
Dear KJS Parents,
I want to thank you very much for expressing your interests in participating in the parent talks. This is the first time that KJS has conducted monthly parent talks, we greatly appreciate your support and suggestions. I fully understand that many parents may not be available to attend due to work commitments and other appointments but are interested in listening to the presentation.
Upon receiving your feedback, the March Parent Talk has CHANGED to a live zoom session. Hopefully, the live zoom session will allow some interactions as well. The presentation will be recorded and posted afterwards for viewing to suit everyone’s availability. The date and time of the presentation will remain the same. We will start promptly. This alternative arrangement gives parents the flexibility to watch the presentation at their convenience.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It’s International Mother Language Week! To celebrate the linguistic diversity of our KJS community, we invite students to dress in their cultural outfits on Friday, February 23rd.
Let your child know the importance of preserving their native language as research indicates that learners’ ability to access their mother language promotes better learning outcomes, self-esteem, and critical thinking skills.
We look forward to sharing some of the different ways we are celebrating this important week in this Friday’s newsletter.
Kind regards

Dear Parents,
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U7nws5-_CXDe98xdrAHK-QAOp3M6eNb4/view?usp=sharing
Next week we will be teaching part of our Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) curriculum. The lessons will be focussing on puberty and children being accurately able to identify male and female body parts.
As you may be aware from previous years the RSE curriculum is a curriculum which has been developed by a team of ESF staff with consultation from global experts. It encompasses learning in this area from Kindergarten through to Year 13. The rationale for the curriculum and the important part in plays in learning are in the shared presentation.
We are sharing with you the presentation so that you are aware of the elements of the programme and are able to sufficiently support your child. You will notice in the presentation that we will refer to previous learning in Year 5 as well as using picture books and animations to ensure understanding at an appropriate developmental level. The resources shared in the presentation are examples of what we will use and are not intended to be exhaustive.
The year 6 team have been carefully considering how the teaching and learning in this area looks different in an online setting and have adapted their resources and their teaching to suit the current situation. We have given very careful consideration to ensuring the learning environment will be a safe space for all to participate in their learning.
We ask for your support in helping to create an appropriate learning space for your child. We would recommend access to headphones, particularly for those children who will be learning in a shared space and may have younger siblings around, or older ones who they feel uncomfortable asking questions in front of.
If you have any questions regarding the content please contact your child’s teacher or Mr Fay who oversees the RSE curriculum at KJS.
Kind regards,
The Year 6 team
Dear parents,
Please disregard the final paragraphs of the previous RSE communication regarding the online learning; this was intended for previous years. The resources discussed are still currently being used to teach RSE.
As always, please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind regards,
Kylie Cornwall
Lead Learner for Year 6

Dear KJS Community,
Feeding HK Food Drive - 31st January to 8th February
Our whole school community is supporting Feeding HK and to give back to this worthy charity, we started a Food Drive at KJS last week.
The last day for donations is on Thursday, 8th February just before the Chinese New Year break. So far we have collected around 5 boxes full of food to send to Feeding HK and we really hope that we can double this amount before the final collection on Thursday afternoon. With your help and support, anything is possible!
The Student Council have placed boxes outside the school office to collect food items such as those listed below;
Packets of rice, pasta and noodles
Cup noodles
Hot beverages (tea and coffee)
Cans of fruits, vegetables and soup
UHT milk
Cooking oil
Please make sure the food items are labelled and are within their expiration date. We also ask that anything bottled such as cooking oil is in a plastic bottles and NOT glass to avoid any breakages.
Thank you so much for your support. We really hope to share happiness and joy across our wider community this Chinese New Year!
Kind regards,
The KJS Student Council
Dear Year 5 Parents,
This is to inform you that there is one reported case of Scarlet Fever in Year 5.
As Scarlet Fever is a communicable disease, we would like you to read the following information provided by the Centre for Health Protection, in order to prevent your child from becoming infected.
Causative agent
Scarlet fever is a bacterial infection caused by Group A Streptococcus. It mostly affects children.
Clinical features
It usually starts with a fever and sore throat. Headache, vomiting and abdominal pain may also occur. The tongue may have a distinctive "strawberry"-like (red and bumpy) appearance. A "sandpaper" texture-like rash would commonly begin on the first or second day of illness over the upper trunk and neck, which spreads to the limbs. The rash is usually more prominent in armpits, elbows and groin areas. It usually subsides after one week and is followed by skin peeling over fingertips, toes and groin areas.
Scarlet fever is sometimes complicated with middle ear infection, throat abscess, chest infection, meningitis, bone or joint problems, damage to kidneys, liver and heart, and rarely toxic shock syndrome.
Mode of transmission
The bacteria are present in the mouth, throat and nose of the infected person. They are transmitted through either respiratory droplets or direct contact with infected respiratory secretions.
Incubation period
The incubation period is usually 1 to 3 days.
Management
Scarlet fever can be effectively treated with antibiotics. If symptoms of scarlet fever develop, consult the doctor promptly and take antibiotics according to doctor's advice. Symptoms may be relieved by parallel use of fever-lowering drugs, more rest and replenishment of fluids.
Prevention
There is no vaccine available against scarlet fever. Members of public are advised to reduce their chance of getting infection by adopting the following measures:
- Perform hand hygiene frequently, especially before touching the mouth, nose or eyes; after touching public installations such as handrails or door knobs; or when hands are contaminated by respiratory secretion after coughing or sneezing.
- Wash hands with liquid soap and water, and rub for at least 20 seconds. Then rinse with water and dry with a disposable paper towel or hand dryer. If hand washing facilities are not available, or when hands are not visibly soiled, hand hygiene with 70 to 80% alcohol-based handrub is an effective alternative.
- Cover your mouth and nose with tissue paper when sneezing or coughing. Dispose of soiled tissues into a lidded rubbish bin, then wash hands thoroughly.
- Avoid sharing personal items e.g. eating utensils and towels.
- When having respiratory symptoms, wear a surgical mask, refrain from work or attending class at school, avoid going to crowded places and seek medical advice promptly.
- Children suffering from scarlet fever should refrain from attending school or child care setting until fever has subsided and they have been treated with antibiotics for at least 24 hours.
- Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as furniture, toys and commonly shared items with 1:99 diluted household bleach (mixing 1 part of 5.25% bleach with 99 parts of water), leave for 15-30 minutes, and then rinse with water and keep dry. For metallic surface, disinfect with 70% alcohol.
- Use absorbent disposable towels to wipe away obvious contaminants such as respiratory secretions, and then disinfect the surface and neighbouring areas with 1:49 diluted household bleach (mixing 1 part of 5.25% bleach with 49 parts of water), leave for 15-30 minutes and then rinse with water and keep dry. For metallic surfaces, disinfect with 70% alcohol.
- Maintain good indoor ventilation. Avoid going to crowded or poorly ventilated public places; high-risk individuals may consider putting on surgical masks while in such places.
The concerned area in our school has been disinfected.

BGCA Bradbury Camp (8 teams) and Pak Sha O Youth Hostel (5 teams)
Asia Pacific Adventure
Dear parents,
In preparation for our overnight camp, we wanted to share the following information with you so that you can share the preparation and excitement with your children. This will be our third overnight camp this academic year following the success of the Year 5 camp in October and the Year 6 camp in December. These were our first overnight camps since 2018 and we are delighted to again be teaming up with Asia Pacific Adventure and returning to Sai Kung as our base for this experience.
The outline itinerary is attached here: The Y4 Itinerary
To make it as successful as possible we will need your support in completing the registration forms below and ensuring that your child has the required kit for camp.
1) Registration – APA Waiver, Medical & Dietary info
Deadline for registration: 3:00 pm Monday 19th February 2024.
In order to provide an excellent camp for every student and ensure that all children’s needs are met, parents are required to complete the APA online school camp registration form for each child. This must be completed before camp starts.
2) Camp Preparation:
APA Overnight Camp Information:
All students will do water challenges on the 1st day and they should wear a swimming suit underneath the T-shirt in advance on the 1st day. This will save a lot of time from changing.
To maximise the activity time, students must bring their own lunch for the 1st day. All other food will be provided
3) Camp presentations
The APA team will come to KJS at 1:15 on Thursday 1st February to present to the children. They will also do a Zoom presentation for parents between 4:00 and 4:30 on Thursday 1st February. We will share the link nearer the time.
If required, please complete the form attached, keep the medications and all the components necessary to administer in a well labelled bag with clear instructions and ask your child to hand it to the responsible teacher. For those students who already keep medication at school for emergency use, we will arrange for the medication to be given to the responsible teachers.
5) Departure and return
The children will depart from KJS at 8:30 on Thursday 29th February. School buses will get the children to school on time. If you travel by private car, public transport or walk please ensure your child arrives at school by 8:20.
The children will return to school by 5:00 on Friday 1st March. Please ensure there are arrangements in place for your child’s safe onward journey home.
Kind regards,
The Year 4 Team
Dear Year 4, 5 and 6 parents,
In Term 1 your child took part in the International School's Assessment (ISA) suite of assessments. These tests assess Mathematical Literacy, Reading, Narrative Writing and Exposition Writing. The results are now ready to share with you and are available on Gateway now.
As with any standalone assessment the ISA is a snapshot of your child's learning that helps our teachers triangulate the data they gather from their ongoing assessments of your child. We know that this form of summative assessment does not suit all learners so they form part of the data picture for you alongside the school reports and the information you receive at parent's evenings.
Please do take some time to read the information at the top of the ISA results. This will help to explain how to read the data. If you do have any questions or clarifications regarding the ISA results please reach out to your child's teacher who will already be using the assessments as part of their knowledge base to move your child's learning forward.
Kind regards,
The Senior Leadership Team
Dear KJS families,
Assessment is central to our goal of supporting students in the development of knowledge, conceptual understanding and transferable skills. One of the main goals of assessment is to have teachers and students who demonstrate assessment capability and parents and legal guardians who are informed about their child’s current learning targets and how best to support them in making progress. We aim to involve teachers and students collaboratively in monitoring, documenting, measuring and reporting on learning. This collaboration in turn helps to develop our students as reflective thinkers who are increasingly able to identify their own strengths and areas for development, taking initiative and action to set and achieve personal targets.
Our mid-year reports serve as one aspect of our multiple reporting opportunities throughout the year, along with 3-way conferences, student led conferences and unit reporting.
Details:
¨ Your child’s report will be available via the app on Friday (19 January) after 5pm.
¨ To access the report please follow these instructions.
We strongly encourage you to sit with your child and review the report. This will hopefully lead to some useful discussions around your child’s strengths and stretches.
Kind regards,
The KJS Senior Leadership Team

KJS P.E. Department
We certainly heard about the benefits of thinking outside the box and being creative in finding novel solutions. Flexible thinking follows that same notion. It is an adaptive process that we teach children so they are able to develop important skills such as assessing the situation, problem solving and tolerating uncertainty. This talk dovetails the previous presentation on executive function in children and links with growth mindset.
Generally, children are resilient and hardy. Despite facing uncertain or difficult situations, they are able to find ways to cope and adjust without major worries. However, some children require extra time and patience when they transition to a new school or dealing with challenging learning tasks. Some may benefit from additional support to help them manage and sort through struggles and emotions they may encounter.
Goal: To learn more about flexible thinking and how it helps foster Growth Mindset. How can we help young learners be more adaptive when dealing with challenging situations at home, at school and in the community? Identify the benefits of teaching flexible thinking and tolerance. This endeavour is part of helping children gain important life skills to become more independent, internalise success and boost self confidence.
Date: 24 January 2024
Location: Kowloon Junior School, 1st Floor Library
Time: 3-3:45pm
Attendees: KJS parents

Light refreshments will be provided
*Registration through the gateway will open at 4pm on Monday 8 January and close on Monday, 22rd January at 4pm (Under “Activity” on Gateway)
Dear Families,
The draft calendar from ESFC has been released for the 2024-25 academic year and can be viewed below. It is important to note that the calendar is subject to change before finalisation. Dear Parents,
We are pleased to provide you with an update on the lunch service at KJS. As we approach the end of the first term, we have been closely monitoring the data and gathering feedback from stakeholders. Our goal is to continuously improve the current system.
To ensure a smoother and more efficient process, we have made some changes to the meal ordering system. Starting from now, you can order meals for your children only between the 15th and 25th of each month, for the following calendar month. If you miss this window, don't worry! The ordering window will reopen at the start of the next month.
Today is the first day to order your meal choices for January 2024.
We kindly request parents and caregivers to pay attention to their children's lunch schedules. We have noticed a significant number of students arriving at school without ordered or packed food on a daily basis. This has caused confusion and upset among the children, as well as wasted eating time trying to sort out the situation.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Chartwells directly via WhatsApp at 9551 6983. Their operating hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 17:00.
Best wishes,
Kowloon Junior School
Dear Year 6 parents,
Reflecting on camp this week it is clear that the children have come back with great excitement regarding their experiences and they've been talking about kayaking, abseiling and gorge walking all week. We are proud of the way they tackled the various physical and social challenges that camp brings and are sure it will stand them in good stead for future experiences. We are very proud of them.
We'd also like to thank parents for their support in getting the children ready for camp and making sure they were as prepared as they could be. The vast majority of children had all they needed to make the camp successful. We still have some work to do regarding certain elements of camp preparation, namely children having mobile devices on camp. There were a number of children that we were aware of that had devices in camp and were communicating with home. This caused considerable difficulty for both the children and the adults in camp and undermined much of the intended experience. We know that some children having phones at camp was a concern to other parents as well. This will lead to us needing to put tighter guidelines in place for future camps. We again thank those children and parents that followed our guidance and understood why devices are not conducive to a successful camp.
Enjoy your holiday,
The Year 6 Team
Dear KJS Parents and Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well! With the end of the term fast approaching, we wanted to remind you that school will finish at 12 noon this Friday 15th December.
School buses will run as normal at this time.
In the spirit of the holiday season, we will be holding special assemblies for students on Friday morning. Students are invited to wear their favourite festive items on the last day of term to bring a touch of holiday magic to KJS, such as a jolly Christmas jumper or t-shirt, a whimsical hat, or a sparkly headband.
Please note that this is completely optional.
As we approach the end of term, we would also like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude for your continued support throughout the year. Your partnership has been invaluable, and we are grateful for the trust you have placed in us to educate and nurture your children.
On behalf of the entire school staff, we wish you and your families a safe, joyful, and memorable holiday season. May it be filled with laughter, love, and cherished moments. We look forward to welcoming our students back in the new year, refreshed and ready for another fantastic term of learning and growth.
Warmest regards,
KJS

Dear Parents of Year 2 Students,
RE: Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease
We have been notified by a parent that their child has “Hand, Foot and Mouth disease”.
The concerned area in our school has been disinfected and the related bus company has been informed.

Thank you for your kind support.

Executive Function and Child Development
This topic is part of the series of presentations promoting positive wellbeing in children.
Have you ever wondered how your child’s brain works? Why do they think and act in a certain way? Our brain is a complex and intricate system that governs every aspect of our bodily functions, movements, thoughts, reflexes
and sensations. Importantly, our brain plays a significant role in our everyday functioning, interaction with our environment as well as regulating our impulses and emotions.
Executive function is a key set of skills and mental processes that helps us govern our daily life. The essential executive functioning skills are planning, organising, emotional regulation, self monitoring, focus and memory. These specific skills complement each other and work in concert to help us perform our tasks and achieve our goals.
Goal: This talk will provide an overview of how executive function works and its relevance to learning, problem solving, social interaction, managing stress and emotions.
Date: 6 December 2023
Location: Kowloon Junior School, 1st Floor Library
Time: 3-3:45pm
Attendees: KJS parents
Facilitator: Ian Ong, Student Counsellor
Light refreshments will be provided
*Registration through the gateway will open at 4pm on 27th of November and close on Tuesday, December 5 at 4pm (Under “Activity” on Gateway”)
Dear Parents,
Thank you to those of you who have completed the APA registration form. Over 120 of our families managed to do that before Friday's deadline.
However, this means that there are still a number of children who have not had registration forms filled out on their behalf. If you have not yet done this please do this today as a matter of urgency. The delay in the registration process slows down other elements of our camp preparation and ultimately APA will not allow participants on site without the completion of the form.
I have linked the form again for your convenience.

Dear KJS families,
As part of our Diwali celebrations, your child is invited to wear traditional Diwali clothing or something colorful on Friday, November 10th. This is optional, and if your child would rather wear their school uniform, that is also okay.
Also on Friday, your child will be watching a Diwali assembly during the day with their class. Please note that this assembly is not open to our parent community, as we simply cannot accommodate everyone. Only those parents who have children performing in the assembly are invited to attend one of the assemblies. Those parents will have already been informed about this.
Thank you for your support.

November 2023
Dear KJS Parents and Guardians,
I am writing to inform you of our upcoming Three-way conference meetings.
Three-way conferences enable dialogue between students, parents and teachers. Everyone meets to discuss the student’s learning and targets, with the student taking an equal and active role. A three-way conference is 15 minutes with your child and their class teacher, plus an opportunity to engage with our specialist teachers. The conferences will be held face to face here at KJS, at the dates and times below.
These meetings align with our AAROW's of success, particularly Agency and Achievement as it gives students an opportunity to share their growth as learners. Through this process the children will develop competency as assessment-capable learners and demonstrate a growing understanding of their development as independent learners.
As a parent or guardian, the hope is you will gain a greater understanding of your child’s progress and next steps. Parents, staff and students collaborate to achieve success for every child.
Three-Way Conferences Overview
The sessions with classroom teachers are 15 minutes in length with appointments available on Thursday 16th November between 3pm and 6pm and on Friday 17th November between 8am-3pm.
School will be closed for all students on Friday 17th November
You can sign up via your gateway login, looking for ‘Three-Way Conferences.’
Bookings open at the following times:
Parents with siblings: Friday 3rd November at 5pm
All other parents: Monday 6th November at 5pm
Bookings will close at 12pm on Monday 13th November
Year 1 parents note:
For our year 1 families there is an option to meet with your child’s Chinese teacher as well as your child’s classroom teacher.
The PE team will run practical sessions for Year 1 and 2 parents on the ground floor playground throughout the day. There is no booking required. You can visit these before or after your meeting with the class teacher. (We will expand these to other Year groups in future conference days). The Drama and Music team will also be offering some drop in sessions.
We look forward to welcoming you on one of the above dates.
Warm Regards,
KJS Senior Leadership Team
Dear Parents,

Feel free to contact us for any questions.

Dear parents,
This serves as a reminder to parents who have not yet signed the Google sign-on notice on Gateway.
From the 23rd of October, 2023 (Monday of the mid-term break), Google requires parental consent for under-18-year-olds who are accessing third-party apps through a Google single sign-on. We therefore need parents to give this consent asap to ensure the apps we use at school can be accessed.
Please logon to GATEWAY (https://kjs.tg.esf.edu.hk/login7.php?CurPage=/) and you will be prompted for the consent form to be signed (eNotice - Educational Technology Tools and Applications).
If you have forgotten your Gateway password please follow the guide below to retrieve a new one. Please ensure you do this from a Laptop/PC.

Dear Y5 Parents,
All children are safe and well. Although there were some long periods of rain, the children all undertook the planned activities yesterday afternoon with great success. The children are really enjoying themselves and building deeper connections with each other. They awoke this morning to dry weather and after a good breakfast will be preparing for the exciting day ahead.
We had some parents arrive unannounced at camp yesterday evening. We respectfully ask that you do not do this. This can be unsettling for the children and can cause unnecessary worry for them. It then also means school and camp staff are having to move away from their current duties.
As mentioned above students are having a lot of fun while also showing real maturity in coping during the wetter periods of weather.
We will send a further update around lunchtime.
Kind Regards,
Mr Gavin MacGregor

Dear Y2 Parents,
RE: Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD)
We have been notified by a parent that their child has “Hand, Foot and Mouth disease”. As this is a notifiable communicable disease, we are informing all parents in this year level as precaution.
HFMD caused by enterovirus 71 (EV71) is of particular concern as it is more likely associated with severe complications (such as viral meningitis, encephalitis and poliomyelitis-like paralysis) and even death. The usual peak season for HFMD in Hong Kong is from May to July and a smaller peak may also occur from October to December. The incubation period is usually around 3 to 7 days.
Mode of Transmission
The infection is mainly transmitted from the faeces of infected persons to the mouth of the next person but can also be spread through droplets or direct contact with objects (such as toys) contaminated by respiratory secretions. Direct contact with open and weeping skin vesicles may also spread the virus.
Stays hydrated and take adequate rest, and patients may receive symptomatic treatment to reduce fever and pain from oral ulcers.
Sick children should stay away from school or gatherings till all vesicles have dried up to avoid spreading the disease. If the infection is caused by EV71, the patient is advised to stay at home for two more weeks after recovery from the disease (i.e. fever and rash have subsided, and vesicles have dried and crusted).
Parents should monitor the child’s condition closely and seek medical advice immediately if there is persistent high fever, decrease in alertness or deterioration in general condition.
5. Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as furniture, toys and commonly shared items with 1:99 diluted household bleach, leave for 15 - 30 minutes, and then rinse with water and keep dry. For metallic surface, disinfect with 70% alcohol.
6. Refrain from attending class at school until their fever and rash have subsided and all the vesicles have dried and crusted.
7. Avoid going to overcrowded places or gathering when sick.
8. Use serving chopsticks and spoons at meal time. Do not share food and drinks with others.
Strict personal hygiene is of utmost importance in preventing Hand, Foot and Mouth disease.
Our school will thoroughly disinfect the concerned area.

Dear parents,
I'm sure your children, and you, are getting just as excited about camp as we are!
We have been in regular contact with Treasure Island (TIG) this week regarding the weather and it does look like there will be rain at certain stages. We just wanted to reassure you that we have been making contingency plans so that the children still have a fantastic experience whatever the weather. As ever, safety is our number one priority and we will not take any decisions that carry any risk. We will assess each situation from a health, safety and wellbeing perspective and make decisions accordingly. We will keep in close contact with the team at KJS and ask them to communicate any major changes that we need to make.
Thank you for your understanding and support. In light of the possibility of some wet weather please pack one extra set of 'dry' clothes for your child as a contingency.
Kind regards,
The Year 5 Team

Diwali is a special time of celebration for many of our KJS community members. We would like to put together a Diwali assembly to celebrate and showcase the spirit and significance of Diwali. The assembly will include performances in different categories and we are now inviting students from across KJS to submit videos if they wish to perform and participate in this year’s Diwali assembly.
If you are interested in being a part of the Diwali assembly please submit a video to Ms. Gupta and Mrs. Doucette before Friday, October 13th. We are seeking a variety of performances and a variety of performers, from our youngest to our oldest, so if we receive too many performance offerings we will do a quick audition to make final selections.
The video should be no longer than 3 minutes.
The criteria for the performances are as follows:
Classical Dance:
Performers will present traditional classical dance forms, such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, etc.
The performance should reflect the essence of Diwali and its cultural significance.
Drama/Skit:
Participants will enact a short play or skit related to Diwali.
The performance should convey a meaningful message or highlight the values associated with Diwali.
Story of Diwali:
Participants will narrate or present a short storytelling session about the significance and history of Diwali.
The performance should engage the audience and provide insights into the festival.
Yoga:
Performers will demonstrate yoga postures or sequences inspired by Diwali.
The performance should promote physical and mental well-being, incorporating elements related to Diwali.
Bollywood Dance:
Participants will perform energetic and vibrant Bollywood-style dance routines.
The performance should showcase the festive spirit through choreography.
Folk Music or Dance:
Performers will showcase traditional folk music or dance forms associated with Diwali from different regions.
The performance should celebrate the cultural diversity and richness of Diwali.
Poems on Diwali:
Participants will recite original or well-known poems dedicated to Diwali.
The poems should capture the essence of Diwali, its traditions, and the joyous atmosphere.
General Guidelines:
Each performance should not exceed 3 minutes to ensure a smooth flow of the assembly.
Performances should be rehearsed and well-prepared to ensure a high-quality showcase.
Songs chosen for the performances should be either about Diwali or have a festive nature.
The use of any obscene or inappropriate language in the performances is strictly prohibited.
By following these criteria, we aim to create an engaging and culturally rich Diwali assembly that celebrates the festival while maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment for all participants and audience members.
We look forward to watching your videos!
Regards,
Ms Gupta and Mrs Doucette
Dear Caregivers,
Thank you to those who have signed up for the workshop: Healthy Habits for the Tech-Connected Family, which is to be held on 9th October.
Due to the large number of people signed up, we need to change the venue and make a slight adjustment to the time.
We will now have the workshop in the school hall at 8:45 a.m. rather than 8:30 a.m.
We ask that you wait outside the school gate until 8:40 a.m. and then come directly to the hall.
Thank you for your support,

Dear KJS families,
With the launch of the Government Vaccination Programme (GVP) starting on 5th October 2023, primary school children are recommended and eligible to receive subsidised Seasonal Influenza Vaccination (SIV) for enhanced protection in the coming winter influenza season. SIV is one of the effective means to prevent seasonal influenza and its complications, as well as reduce influenza-related hospitalisation and death.
Please check with your family doctor or local clinic for enquiries and appointments for the subsidised SIV.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions.

Dear KJS families,
I hope this message finds you well.
A small number of parents have wanted some clarification as to whether students are expected to wear PE uniform when they have Drama. This is not the case.
To clarify and for consistency, students need only wear their PE uniform when they have PE. They should wear their normal school uniform on all other days.
We apologise for any confusion, as always, thank you for your ongoing support.

Dear KJS Families
YOU TELL US MEETING TO GO AHEAD ON ZOOM TODAY
We hope you are all well despite yet another unexpected extreme weather event.
We have made arrangements for this afternoon's scheduled 'You Tell Us' meetings to go ahead but switching to online Zoom meetings. We appreciate that in-person meetings are preferred but under the circumstances we think it better to go ahead online rather than rearrange to another date.
Please click the link below to access the zoom link for your child's class teacher.
For parents with children in Year 2 only, which have meetings scheduled with the Chinese team, these will also be switched to Zoom. Links for the Chinese teachers are also available below.
All meetings will go ahead following the existing schedule.
As these meetings are designed to be two way conversations, we suggest that you do not include your child in or within earshot of the meetings on this occasion.
If for any reason you are unable to attend the zoom meetings with the class teachers, please contact the teacher directly.
In addition to the class teacher meetings, our PE team has provided a presentation about the PE curriculum, which can be accessed here.
Our Expressive Arts team would like to find out more about your child's interest in Music and Drama, which you can provide using the following Google Forms:

Dear KJS Families,
Hooray!!
We had our first lunch service today and it was all quite smooth. We had positive comments from some students, portions were generous and it all smelt delicious!
But very importantly: Students must bring in their own cutlery!!
A memo was sent out on the Chartwells app on this and mentioned in last Friday’s school Newsletter. Please ensure your children bring their own forks, spoons or chopsticks as we cannot provide enough for everyone.
If you have any questions, please contact Chartwells on their Hotline/WhatsApp: 9551-6983
Thank you for the fabulous support!

Dear KJS Parents and Guardians,
In line with our Mission Statement, Kowloon Junior School is committed to providing the best possible education for every student. We believe that students achieve success when families, school and communities work together.

How would you describe your child’s personality?
How do you feel your child is settling into the new school year?
What are their strengths and interests in and out of school?
Which language(s) does your child use at home with family members?
Do you /they have any areas for concern that we need to know about?
Is there any other information you would like us to know about your child that will help him/her experience the greatest success this academic year?
The sessions are 10 minutes in length and will run from 3pm-6 pm on Wednesday 13th September and Thursday 14th September

Dear KJS families,
Starting a new school can be an exciting yet daunting experience for both children and parents. We recognise the significance of this transition and the impact it can have on your child's overall well-being and academic progress. Please take 5 minutes to complete the following survey, designed to gather feedback about your child's transition experiences as they began school at KJS.
Your feedback is important to help improve and enhance experiences in future.
Thank you in advance for your time and participation.

Dear KJS families,
Local seasonal influenza activity has continued to soar in the past week and has exceeded the seasonal epidemic threshold, indicating that Hong Kong has entered the summer influenza season.
As advised by CHP, please check the body temperature of your child every day before sending them to school. If your child has any upper respiratory infection symptoms i.e. fever, headache, diarrhoea or vomiting, they should stay home and be refrained from school for at least 48 hours until they are fully recovered. This helps prevent the spread of illness across the school.
Please also be reminded to inform the school office of your child’s absence with a list of symptoms via ESF app or email at office@kjs.edu.hk.
Hope everyone stays strong and healthy.

Dear KJS Families,
I hope this message finds you well.
In my previous communication on 27/6, I mentioned our school's initiative to use gender-inclusive pronouns in our student reports. This decision was made with the intention of aligning with ESF's ongoing commitment to fostering gender-friendly and inclusive learning environments. While ESF is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, I would like to clarify that the use of gender-neutral pronouns in student reports is not an official ESF policy.
Our end-of-year reports have been written using gender-neutral language. However, in the future, we will revert to the report format used in previous years. I sincerely apologise for any confusion or concern this change may have caused, and I appreciate your understanding as we continue to work together in the best interests of our students.
Kind regards,
Dr. Jamie Schmitz
Acting Principal
Kowloon Junior School
Dear Parents,
We will be migrating our VLE (SPLAT) system on 4 JUL from (9am to 4pm). During the maintenance period, the ESF APP and SPLAT will not be available.
Thank you for your kind attention

Dear KJS Families,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to inform you that this Friday, June 30, will be a Casual Dress Day for all students at KJS. Please note that it is also a half-day and that dismissal will be at 12 noon.
We look forward to a fun and enjoyable end to the school year.
Kind regards,
Dr. Jamie Schmitz

Dear KJS Families,
As we continue our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, we would like to share an important update regarding our written reporting process. Our school has adopted gender-inclusive language in all student reports. This means that we are using the pronouns: they, them, and their to refer to all students, regardless of their gender identity.
By using gender-inclusive language, we are embracing a neutral approach that does not make assumptions about any student's gender. This change is in line with ESF's strong commitment to supporting gender-friendly and inclusive classrooms, ensuring that all students feel respected and valued within our school community.
We understand that the use of they, them, and their pronouns in this context may seem unfamiliar to some at first. However, we are confident that with time, we will all adapt to this change as we continue to prioritise inclusivity and respect for all.
Thank you for your understanding and support regarding this important change to our reporting process.
Kind regards,
Dr. Jamie Schmitz

I am pleased to announce that the End-of-Year Reports for the 2022-2023 school year are now live and available for you to view. These reports are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, as well as the tireless efforts of our teachers to provide a nurturing and engaging learning environment.
To access your child's report, please follow the steps outlined in the included guide.
Should you encounter any difficulties accessing the report, please do not hesitate to contact our school office.
As we celebrate our students' learning and progress, we also look forward to the next academic year and the opportunities it brings. Thank you for your continued support.

Dear KJS Community,
I hope this message finds you all in good health and spirits. Today, I want to take a moment to remind everyone of the importance of respectful communication within our school community. This expectation applies not only to interactions within the school but also to all school-related contexts, including those not directly managed by the school or the PTA.
As a diverse and inclusive community, it is essential that we treat one another with kindness and respect, both in person and in written communications. We all come from different backgrounds and experiences, and it is crucial that we remain sensitive to the feelings and perspectives of others.
To foster a positive and supportive environment, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
1. Be mindful of your language: Avoid saying or writing anything that you sense may be offensive or upsetting to others. Consider the impact of your words before sharing them.
2. Pause before responding: If you feel upset, frustrated, or angry by a message or situation, give yourself time and space to process your emotions before responding. A few hours or even a day can allow you to gain perspective and respond more thoughtfully.
3. Seek assistance if needed: If you find yourself in a difficult situation or feel unsure about how to handle a communication issue, please reach out to the school or the PTA.
By adhering to these guidelines, we can ensure that our school community remains a respectful and nurturing environment for all. Thank you for your cooperation and ongoing commitment to making KJS a welcoming and harmonious place for everyone.
Kind regards,
Dr. Jamie Schmitz

Dear Year 6 parents and guardians,
Your child(ren) recently undertook the Interactive Computerised Assessment (InCAS). The results of those assessments (Reading, Spelling, Mathematics, Mental Arithmetic & Developed Ability [picture vocabulary and non-verbal ability]) will be available to you via Gateway, on June 21st.
In this example, the child who took this test was 10 yrs and 3 months (10:3) at the time of the test. Therefore, the results indicate the following;
General maths: An age equivalent score of between 10:3 and 10:9
Mental Arithmetic: An age equivalent score of between 9:9 and10:2
Spelling: An age equivalent score of between 10:3 and 10:9
At KJS, we understand that children cannot be reduced to a number.
If you have any questions about the results once they have been released, please contact your child's class teacher and/or myself at dawn.doucette@kjs.edu.hk.
Kind regards,
Dawn Doucette

Dear Parents of Year 3 Students,
RE: Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease
We have been notified by a parent that their child has “Hand, Foot and Mouth disease”. As this is a notifiable communicable disease we are informing all parents in this year level. We would like to remind all parents that Hand,
Foot and Mouth Disease is prevalent at this time of year and request that you read the following information provided by the Department of Health, in order to prevent your child from becoming infected.
What is Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease?
Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is a viral infection.
Sick children should stay away from school or gatherings till all vesicles have dried up to avoid spreading the disease. The patient is advised to stay at home until fully recovered, i.e. fever and rash have subsided, and vesicles have dried and crusted.
Parents should monitor the child’s condition closely and seek medical advice immediately if there is persistent high fever, decrease in alertness or deterioration in general condition.

RE: Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD)enterovirus 71
We have been notified by a parent that their child has “Hand, Foot and Mouth disease”. As this is a notifiable communicable disease we are informing all parents in this year level. We would like to remind all parents that Hand,
Foot and Mouth Disease is prevalent at this time of year and request that you read the following information provided by the Department of Health, in order to prevent your child from becoming infected.
What is Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease?
Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is a viral infection.

Dear KJS Families,
KJS is a wonderful community. Our parents are deeply involved in their children's education and, in many cases, the successful running of the school. Our PTA is incredibly supportive and active, and our School Council provides solid governance and enables us to deliver continued success to the generations of children who walk through our school gates.
We are excited to announce the launch of our new closed Facebook page for KJS families, set to go live on May 3rd. This initiative aims to strengthen and celebrate our school community by fostering engagement and connection among our families.
We cordially invite each of you to join and actively participate in this online platform, where you can share experiences, exchange ideas, and celebrate KJS. Your involvement will contribute significantly to enriching our vibrant community.
The group will not be moderated on an ongoing basis. We are going to operate on the basis of there being a set of rules and guidelines that we expect everyone to follow. If something breaches the rules, then we can take action to remedy that.
Be respectful to each other – we are all part of this amazing community, so let's make sure that we discuss issues in a manner befitting this great school.
This is not the place to raise individual concerns – if you want to raise an issue, then please contact your teacher via email or one of the school leadership team.
Don’t name or tag children in photos – even though this is not a public group, we are still following the best practice guidelines when it comes to the use of photos of children. You can post pictures of groups of students, but don’t name them individually – just refer to their class or year group.
Ask your child if you are posting about them – in line with our approach to digital citizenship, it is good social media etiquette to ask your child if they are ok with you making a post about them. If they are ok with it, then you are good to go.
If in doubt then don’t post – if you are unsure about whether or not it is appropriate to post something in the group, then you probably already have your answer
We have never done this before, so we are going to try it out between now and the end of the term. It is not compulsory, nor is it replacing any of the traditional means of contacting the school with questions or concerns. We will review it at the end of the term and see if it is something that the community supports – or if we need to make some adjustments. There will be a short joining and approval process for families, but we aim to make this as easy as possible.
Please mark the date as May 3rd, and join us in embracing this exciting opportunity to connect and engage with fellow KJS community members. We look forward to welcoming you to our new KJS Community Facebook page!
Kind Regards,
Dr. Jamie Schmitz - Acting Principal
Dear parents,
We are looking forward to welcoming you to KJS for our student conferences on Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday afternoon we are aware that some families have early appointments and don't have time to travel home and then travel back to KJS. With this in mind if you have an early appointment you are welcome to meet your child in the 'Walkers Area" (outside Year 2) between 2:45 and 3:00 and wait with them on the ground floor playground until your appointment. There will not be any school supervision at this time of the day so supervision is the responsibility of the parents or domestic helpers.
Kind regards,
KJS Senior Leadership Team
Dear KJS Families,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to update you on the ongoing tendering process for a lunch provider at our school. As you may be aware, we are currently in the process of selecting a new provider to serve our students starting August or September.
The decision to change our approach to selecting a lunch provider is not one that we have taken lightly. Our primary goal is to ensure that we secure a provider that meets the highest standards in terms of health and safety, price, environmental sustainability, and customer service. We believe that our students deserve the best possible meal options, and we are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for our school community.
The tendering process is being coordinated by the ESF team, which is working concurrently with several schools to find the most suitable provider. This collaborative approach allows us to leverage our collective resources and expertise, ultimately benefiting our students by securing a provider that meets our stringent criteria. We understand that this process will take time, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this period.
We value your support and trust in our efforts to provide a high-quality, safe, and nutritious lunch program for our students. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are always here to listen and address any concerns you may have.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in our shared mission to provide the best possible education and support for our students.
Kind regards,
Dr. Jamie Schmitz

Dear KJS families,
Welcome back and hope you all have a nice Easter Break.
Hong Kong has entered the Influenza Season.
As advised by CHP, please check the body temperature of your child every day before sending them to school. If your child has any upper respiratory infection symptoms, fever, headache, diarrhoea or vomiting, they should stay home and should be refrained from school until they are recovered. Students who experience diarrhoea, vomiting or fevers should remain at home until 48 hours after their last episode.
This enables children who are unwell to fully rest and recover and also prevents the spread of illness throughout the school.
Hope everyone stays strong and healthy.
